Teachers I appreciate you!

Today I had the opportunity to participate in an integrative teacher professional development workshop on reading. Back in my day (when I taught second grade) all of our professional development was completed outside of the classroom. This workshop combined both, time with the trainer, preparing for the lesson, and then time in the classroom practicing with students what we learned. I love this technique of modeling and learning and INSTANT feedback! This opportunity for professional development is called a learning lab which gives teachers the opportunity to learn, practice, then plan for their next lesson. Oh how I wish this practice was in place when I was teaching! Thank you Wendy Ward and the Carnation 4th grade teachers for allowing me to participate in this awesome opportunity.
